Abstract
Objective: The present study aimed to examine the differences of ear and gender of pure-tone thresholds and DPOAEs in normal twentieth hearing adults.

Design: A total of 34 (17 males and 17 females) normal hearing adults (hearing levels ¡Â20 dB HL at 0.5-8 kHz frequencies) participated in this study. Especially 17 males were not performed military service.

Results: For all the results of the pure-tone thresholds and DPOAEs in ear, there was no significant difference for all tested frequencies. However in result of the gender differences, the pure-tone thresholds for females was significantly better than that for males at 1, 3, 4, 8 kHz, but DPOAEs only showed a better at 2 kHz. The pure-tone thresholds and DPOAEs showed a lower correlation at all frequencies, but the correlation coefficient between the absolute amplitudes and relative amplitude of DPOAEs was the highest at 2 kHz (-0.58 and -0.49).

Conclusion: The present study finds the properties of DPOAEAs in the twentieth normal hearing adults with noise-unexposed and the status of cochlear by ototoxic drugs or loud noise early for identification provides basic reference data for clinical application of DPOAEs. Also the accuracy cochlear status of males have participated in military service should be further evaluated.
